Satyr odpoczywający

Młodzieniec, wsparty prawym przedramieniem na wysokim pniu, odciąża cofniętą lekko za linię ciała prawą nogę. Podstawy dotyka jedynie palcami. Lewe ramię jest ukruszone. Zachowane kopie dzieła wskazują, że powinno spoczywać na wysuniętym biodrze. Taka poza uwypuklała frywolność satyra. Jego tors przepasany jest zgodnie z tradycją skórą pantery, a gęste włosy udekorowane zostały wieńcem roślinnym.

Wrażenie lekkości statycznej figury zapewniają: brak napięcia mięśni ręki spoczywającej na drzewcu, dodatkowy wspornik w formie pnia i zastosowanie kontrapostu - ciało opiera się na jednej nodze, druga pozostaje lekko uniesiona. Układ dolnych kończyn równoważy skręt tułowia, a barki wygięte są przeciwnie do bioder. Ponadto odchylona w lewo głowa sprawia, że kręgosłup układa się w kształt podobny do litery S.

Resting Satyr

A young man, leaning with his right forearm on a tall tree trunk, takes the weight off his right leg, which is slightly behind the line of his body. He only touches the base with his fingers. His left shoulder is chipped. Preserved copies of the work indicate that it was supposed to rest on the protruding hip. This pose emphasised the frivolity of the satyr. His torso is wrapped in panther skin, as is traditional, and his thick hair is decorated with a wreath of plants.

The impression of lightness of the static figure is achieved by: the lack of tension in the arm resting on the tree trunk, an additional support in the form of a trunk, and the use of contrapposto – the body rests on one leg, while the other remains slightly raised. The lower limbs balance the twist of the torso, and the shoulders are bent in the opposite direction to the hips. In addition, the head tilted to the left causes the spine to form an S-shape.
