Faun z koźlęciem

Figura przedstawia młodego nagiego mężczyznę o bujnej fryzurze, ze spiczastymi uszami, rogami i ogonem, który na ramionach niesie koźlę. Podziwiana przez koneserów rzeźba była często kopiowana. To popularne przedstawienie w trzech wersjach, wykonane z marmuru, piaskowca i gipsu, trafiło także do kolekcji króla Stanisława Augusta. Całopostaciowa marmurowa rzeźba zdobi do dziś pałac Na Wyspie, inna – wykonana w piaskowcu – stoi w ogrodzie oranżeryjnym w Łazienkach.

W pracowni rzeźbiarza Franciszka Pincka w warszawskim Zamku Królewskim znajdowała się mała figura Fauna z różowego gipsu. Tam też przechowywano odlewy gipsowe części posągu, takie jak ręka i głowa. Na rysunku Cypriana Dylczyńskiego zarówno tę rzeźbę, jak i dzieło, wykonane w stylu Polikleta, możemy zobaczyć w sali rysunkowej Szkoły Sztuk Pięknych.
 

Faun with a goatling

The figure depicts a young naked man with a lush hairstyle, pointed ears, horns and a tail, carrying a goatling on his shoulders. Admired by connoisseurs, the sculpture was often copied. This popular representation, available in three versions made of marble, sandstone and plaster, also found its way into the collection of King Stanisław August. A full-figure marble sculpture adorns the Palace on the Isle, while another, made of sandstone, stands in the conservatory garden in Łazienki Park.

In the studio of sculptor Franciszek Pinck in Warsaw’s Royal Castle, there was a small figure of the Faun made of pink plaster. Plaster casts of parts of the statue, such as the hand and head, were also stored there. In Cyprian Dylczyński’s drawing, both this sculpture and the work, made in the style of Polykleitos, can be seen in the drawing room of the School of Fine Arts.
